Articles and Awards

There's been a lot of news in the Destructobox universe as of late. Recently, as  mentioned, co-creators Phil and Joey were interviewed by the Indiana Daily Student about the new comedy line-up for IUSTV.  The article can be found online here.  In a later article, printed today, the IDS Editorial Staff describes Destructobox as "an animated series so twisted that it defies description."  The latter article speaks up against the "decency statement" currently being drafted by IUSTV, stating that students who have complained are "misunderstanding satire."  Read the article here.

On Friday, 30 March, the 17th Annual MultiVisions conference was held. MultiVisions is designed to offer students a preview of numerous career options in the media industries and is hosted by the Telecommunications Department.  Out of the twelve categories and numerous entries, Destructo Box staff took three awards.  Phil
McLaughlin's video of DJ Pumpkin Patch's "Birthday Song" took third place in the Advanced Fiction category.  Destructo Box's fourth episode, "Destructothustra," earned the D.B. staff second place honors in the category Graphics and Animation for Video.  In addition, Joey also took first place in Graphics and Animation for the Web for the
flash version of the Official Destructo Box Website.

The MultiVisions conference is also used as a presentation for numerous Telecommunications scholarships.  Joey was chosen as the recipient of the Fred Brewer Award for Innovation in Graphics and Video out of all T-com applicants.

Episode five, "Ed Gets E.D.," is currently in the mix with a hopeful release before the end of the spring semester.

Newspaper Articles, and Progress

Hello again. A lot of news for DB this week.  First off, Phil and I
were interviewed by the IU student newspaper last Friday.  The Indiana
Daily Student will be running a story about IUSTV's new comedy lineup
featuring "Destructo Box" and fellow IUSTV comrades "F'N Democracy"
and "IU Live!", so keep an eye out! For info on F'N D or IU Live check
out the IUSTV site at www.iustv.com or do a search on youTube.

In show news, production of our final 2 episodes of the season have
begun simultaneously. Our 5th episode, tentatively titled "Ed gets
E.D." and a special musical/opera are on the horizon.  Who knows when
they will actually be done, but after these two episodes a season 1
DVD is the next goal. Stay tuned for packaging sketches and details.

Don't forget to send us your wallpapers, ideas, suggestions, comments,
how much you love the show, how much you hate the show, etc. We want
it all.

Episode 4

Wow, ok. So its been a little while since the last update. Final semester projects, a flash version of the website and winter break all took a toll on production. If you look under the episodes section, you'll find both parts of our new 2 part sci-fi epic "Thus Spake Destructothustra".

Old episodes have been taken down for the time being and are going to be re-uploaded in the new short format. The silent film man is gone forever and will mostly make an appearance as a deleted scene on the DVD.

In other news, we are currently accepting Destructo Box themed wallpapers. If you're feeling creative, send us some art. As you can tell, we're not too picky.

A webmaster has also been hired, so expect more updates here (hopefully).  At least more often than almost 3 months.

Episode 1

Episode one is on youTube NOW!  It has been for a few days, but I had been stalling trying to upload it to the new site layout.  The new site has been delayed so rather than hold out, I figured it best to at least link it here for the time being.  Check it under the episodes section.

Finalize, volunteer, ep 1

Episode one is very very close to being released.  Due to some quick dialogue, the episode total running time is 4 minutes short of the required broadcast length (24 minutes).  To keep with the standards of IUSTV, we have been told to postpone our launch date until the 4 minutes are filled.  Other than this 4 minutes, the episode is COMPLETE!!

*CALLOUT*: If you have any desire to help out on the show, please let us know! We are currently searching for people willing to help out on the production side of things.  Illustrators are needed to help create the characters and scenery, and animators to help lip sync characters to dialogue. Experience in photoshop or flash is preferred, and instruction will be available to get you working with system for content creation. Anyone willing to cut together audio voice tracks would be awesome as well.   All these positions are available on a volunteer basis only. There is no money in this.  You will receive credit for your work, as well as the satisfaction of helping bring Destructo to the masses.

Next update, will hopefully be to post the first episode!

Posters, Progress, Voices

Hello hello.  Finally the first major news update.  Voices for the first episode have been recorded and are in the process of being cut together for the animation team to take over.  Premiere date has been scheduled for OCTOBER 11th.  Here's hoping we actually make it.

The intro sequence is near completion. and a rough cut has been uploaded to you tube. Check it out in the media section!

Promotional posters have also been printed.  The posters are 2 feet by 3 feet. Full color, full awesome.  They'll be posted around campus soon. I'm giving them to people at the same cost of printing ($2), so if you want one, email us at destructobox@gmail.com.  See a small sample version here.
